My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Thursday 16th May 2019 Evening Walk Stanton

The first of our evening walks. From Stanton initially on the Winchcombe Way to Buckland. Then up the escarpment on a different path to join the Cotswold Way back to the top of Shenberrow Hill. Returning on the direct path to the Mount Inn at Stanton.

Ten on the walk including Phillip who was from South Africa. 5 miles and 800 feet of ascent.

The Buckland Manor Hotel and church

Going up the steeper bit.....

...to join the Cotswold Way.

On the Cotswold Way

Wonderful lighting on the way down from Shenberrow Hill as the sun was getting lower. The Malvern Hills in the far distance. Bredon Hill to the right and Dumbleton Hill to the left. You really had to be there....

  1. What a great set of photos, thank you for sharing your link on Cotswolds Photography page. These photos have convinced me I need to stay for quite a while to get all the walking in. My 4th great grandparents are buried in Stanton and stayed there on my trip in 2018. Thank you again for sharing these walks in photo form.
