My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 19th December - Alderton

From Alderton on a circular walk around Dumbleton and Alderton Hills to Dumbleton.  All the way round in difficult conditions. So much rain the ground is totally saturated.  The first 3 fields normally have crops growing (not yet planted due to the wet conditions). Rain overnight and at the start of the walk. Just four of us for the walk.

The fields at the start of the walk.

Looking back down on Didcot Farm.

The path beside Dumbleton Hill and the hedge has been cut down.

Tuesday 12th Deceber 2023

Two groups walking today, one doing 5 miles and the other 7 mile. A memorial walk for Beatrice who led this walk last year.  All followed by our Chrismas lunch in the Corner Cupboard.

So much rain in recent weeks and the ground in places was  slippery mud. We followed the Winchcombe Way out over Dunn's Hill.

Through Little Farmcote to the road.

Then through Farmcote and down.........

.....through Hayles Farm cider apple orchard.

Back on the Cotswold Way to the Corner Cupboard for an excellent lunch.
