My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Thursday 22nd April 2021 - walk with Tom

Great to see Tom again on a walk from Ringmoor Cottage to Eylesbarrow Tin Mine. Bright and sunny but with a very cool wind and so different from previous days. 7 miles with 1000 feet of ascent

Earlier in the morning - a wander over Roborough Down. A chance chat with old neighbours and friends from Horrabridge

Saturday 17th April - A gentle amble over Pew Tor

One of my favourite Darmoor places - Pew Tor with many happy family memories. A gentley walk to the top.

Friday 16th April - Return to Dartmoor

A bike ride from Tavistock on Drake's Trail. Through the tunnel, over the bridge and past a place which was once home. On though Yelverto to Meavy and around Burrator. Back to Tavistock through Walkhampton, Sampford Spiney and the edge of Pew Tor. About 22 miles with 1600 feet of ascent.
