My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Sunday 22nd May - Steam Train to Toddington

My second walk co-leading for the Winchcombe Walking Festival. A steam train from Greet to Toddington and then walking back to Greet - about 5 miles with 21 on the walk.

Over one of several stiles

We stopped in Toddington where the willow artist Jane Sheppard gave us a demonstration of willow art.

We had to go through a field of cows with some young bulls intent on constantly running towards the group. Some members fo the walk were understandably not very happy about this! Three of us kept them away from the group and everyone was relieved to get into the next field

Clear views on a super summers day.

Saturday 21st May - Walk to the source of the River Isbourne

Good to be out and walking again co-leading a walk for the Winchcombe Walking Festival from Winchcombe to the source of the River Isbourne on Cleeve Hill - about 6 miles with 10 people on the walk. Out along Langley Road and then up and across to the edge of Cleeve Hill. Around to the little reservoir by the washpool and along to one of the springs feeding the River Isbourne. Returning past Postlip Hall and Postlip Mill.

Going up the only steep bit.
