My Country Walks: Broadway

The penultimate leg of the Cotswold Way from Hailes to Broadway. Perfect weather for the walk - almost spring like with sunshine and no wind.

Starting by the little church at Hailes, up the track towards Farmcote and then across to the Beckbury Monument. On to Stumps Cross and steeply down to Stanway. Through the fields to Stanton with a stop for lunch. Very steeply up to Shenberrow Hill and then along the top of the escarpment before dropping gently down to Broadway

10.4 miles and 1500 feet of ascent.

Broadway comes into view

A glorious warm sunny morning. We took the scenic route out of Winchcombe on the Cotswold Way and then onto the footpath to follow the River Isbourne up to Postlip Hall. Around the edge of Cleeve Hill to the golf club and then on the Winchcombe Way across the side of Nottingham Hill. On the way down we cut across to Prescott to have a peak at the hill climbing which was in progress. Through the fields to Far Stanley Farm and back to Winchcombe on the Gloucestershire Way around the edge of Langley Hill.
