My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 19th September - Guiting Power

A dull morning with a few showers. Just three of us on the walk from Guiting Power to Naunton, Awlworth, Westfiled Farm and back. 7 miles with 800 feet ascent.

Heading off from Guiting Power

One of the small reservoirs just below Guiting Power

The Dovecote in Naunton

Inside the Dovecote

The river Windrush

Looking back down on Naunton

Then through the Naunton Downs Golf Club and the relatively recently established racing stables for Ben Pauling racing

The Windrush Way and the valley that leads to Aylworth.

Downs Barn clay pigeon shooting centre

Finally an newly established set of gates. On the left for walkers, on the right for horses but what is the centre metal bit for?
