My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Wednesday 25th July 2024 Stanway

A solo walk to review and check the details for one of the published walks on the Winchome Welcoms Walkers website. This starts near the viaduct for the GWR near Stanway. 7 miles with 1000ft ascent.

The viaduct is a signifcant structure but mainlly hidden from view. This is all you can see of it from the road.

A footpath goes right underneath it next to the farm - an impressive structure and almost  work of art too.

You get a much better view of it from the footpath on the other side.

Next into Stanway.

Then up the steeper bit

At the top is the Beckbury Monument
