My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 9th July 2024 - Stow on the Wold

From Stow on the Wold going through Donnington and Lower Swell.  A dull overcast morning and after lots of rain overnight we were fortunate it stayed dry. 8 miles with 700 ft ascent.

The site of the Battle of Stow 1646

On Icknield Street a Roman Road running from Bourton-on-the-Water to Templeborough in South Yorkshire.

Just one wet patch!

The village hall in Lower Swell where they were filming.....

.....Father Ted!

A labrador once lived here and this special arch was put in so that he had a good view of the field!
