My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 1st February 2022 - Stanton

Starting from Stanton and joing the Winchcombe Way to Laverton. Across to Buckland, then steeply up to join the Cotswold Way by Top Farm. Down to Bury End with a coffee stop at West End next to the impressive new flood defence area. Back on the Cotswold Way and steeply up again to the junction with the Winchcombe Way. Down through Lidcombe Wood to Stanway and finally back to Stanton.

A lovely bright sunny morning but with a cool breeze

About 10 miles with 1500 feet of ascent.

Looking across towards Dumbleton Hill with the Malvern Hills just visible in the distance

Snowdrops just inside the gardens at Stanway House. Always a sign that spring is coming
