My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Thursday 24th October 2019 Kilkenny

A walk of  two halves - rain and wet in the morning then sunshine in the afternoon. Starting from the car park and picnic area at Kilkenny. Across the A436 to join the Cotswold Way for a short distance through Lineover Wood. On Wistley Hill we went south past the clay pigeon shooting place and then around Chatcombe Wood before going through the very muddy field to the road leaving Upper Coberley. Down around Coberley Court through Cowley to the Green Dragon at Cockleford for lunch. There were 15 of us and the food and service was excellent.

Much brighter after lunch as the rain had moved away. We followed the Gloucestershire Way up the long hill back to Upper Coberley. On past Needlehole and back to the start.

10.5 miles and 1050 feet ascent.
