My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 5th October 2021 Winchcombe to Chaarlton Abbots

An easy sevem mile walk from Winchcombe following the Cotswold Way up to Corndean Lane. Past Humblebee Cottages to look at the controversial footpath down to Wadfield Farm.  Then past Goldwell Farm to Charlton Abbots for our coffee break. A place which was once a leper colony established by the monks from Winchcombe Abbey. Returning to Winchcombe through Waterhatch and past Sudeley Castle.

Looking down on Winchcombe

A lonley stile - the fence has long since been removed.

The splendidly isolated Goldwell Farm - does anyone live here?

St Martins Church, Charlton Abbotts

Just below the church is this little reservoir which presumably was built to work with the water wheel at Waterhatch
