My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 3rd August - Fur Tor Dartmoor

Back to Dartmoor for the annual walk to Fur Tor - the 'Queen of Tors'.  One of the most remote parts in Southern England.

We started from Lane End and up to Ger Tor. Round to Tavy Cleeve Tor.  Down to Deadlake Foot for the first river crossing over the Rattle Brook and across to Sandy Ford for the second crossing over the River Tavy. Steeply up to Fur Tor for lunch. Returning over Standon Hill before going steeply down for the final river crossing over the Tavy.
