My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Coaley Peak 26.09.18

I decided to join a different rambling group for a mid week walk. This group appears to offer more challenging walks - I wasn't disappointed. A glorious morning, we started from the car park above Coaley Peak. The long flat hill is Cam Long Down which was our initial target. After this we went up  Downham Hill. This is shown in the extras. Known locally as Smallpox Hill because of a facility on top for smallpox victims in previous centuries. From here we went up to Uley Bury Spectacular scenery -  This was the best walk I have done since moving to the Cotswolds.

10 miles and 2000 feet hight gain
