My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 4th March 2025 Cleeve Hill

A walk mainly around the edge of Cleeve Hill on some paths most of hadn't walked before including some off piste bits too.  A good opportunity to see just how much the west and east sides of the hill have been quarried. A beautiful sunny morning, cold at first but quite warm later. A more demanding walk than anticipated. 7 miles with 1250 feet asecent.

From the club house

Through some difficult terrain to come out just below the iconic two trees.

Then on the Cotswold Way for a while.

Coffee stop above Cheltenham

The old quarries on the east side of the hill

Gorse out in full bloom

A steep path down to the old sheep dip and reservoir

At the trig point and topograph

The golf club with Dumbleton Hill in the distance.
