My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 21st January 2025 - Lower Slaughter

A loop from Lower Slaughter taking in Cold Aston. Foggy at first but then the sun came out. Cool and a perfect day for a winter walk. 8 miles with 900 feet ascent.

Always a joy to walk through one of the Cotswolds prettiest places but some extra drama today as the bin lorry whilst reversing in had gone a bit too close to the edge.

A stop for coffee with the sheep

Clearing away the ivy in the woods

In the field below two deer - they were aware we there but not quite sure exactly sure where....

Going across the airstrip

Into Cold Aston - which way would you go?

Always a sign that things are going to get better

On getting back to Lower Slaughter it was good to see the bin lorry had been pulled away from the edge using the winch on a giant recovery truck.

We were joined today by James and Lucy who came with us for the first time.
