My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 16th December 2025 Winchcombe

From Winchcombe and up to Belas Knap 6.5 miles. Meanwhile the Fivers group did a 4 mile walk. This was followed by our Christmas lunch at the White Hart. 22 of us in total and almost everyone involved in the group. Dull at the start but brighter later. So much rain that both groups avoided some of the muddiest bits with alternative routes.

Tuesday 9th December 2025 Cotswolds Barn Cafe

We started from the Cotswold Barn cafe on the A424. They have a direct link onto the footpath at the back of the car park, following the track past Hans hill Farm to Hinchwick Manor. Then a loop through the valley and over Bourton Down eventually returning on the track we took out.  The weather was not a wet as forecast but it was still very, very wet and windy too! 8 miles with 500 feet of ascent.

On the track out - this was previously a training track for horses

Tuesday 2nd December - Snowshill

Five of us on the Fivers walk this week from Snowshill. Lovely morning to be out, bright sunshine and a cool breeze. 5 miles

A little wander around Snowshill before the walk as the sun was coming up.
