My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 7th October Kilkenny

A while since I have walked from the Kilkenney nature reserve. Going south over Shill Hill and throug Withington Woods to Withington. Returning past Upcote Farm and Thorndale, then throug Foxcote. 10 miles with 600 feet ascent.

An intersting sign in a garden which the footpath goes through.

And a crocodile in the same place too!

Thursday 2nd October 2025 Malvern Hills

We didn't have a group walk this week so there was an opportunity for a solo walk on the Malvern Hills, one of my favourite places for walking. Starting from the car park below British Camp I headed north going over all the tops to North Hill and returning on an alternative path where available. The forecast for bright sunshine but it didn't come out until I had finished. So it was a dull morning and with a cooling wind on the higher tops. Only 8 miles but more strenuous than usual with 2000 feet ascent.

Looking ahead to Black Hill.

Next was Pinnacle Hill

Jubilee Hill
