My Country Walks

Welcome to my new blog following my move to the Cotswolds in early 2018.

Previously living on the edge of Dartmoor I shared details of my walks on Dartmoor on my previous blog My Dartmoor Walks. As I explore this new area I will share details of the routes here.

Tuesday 26th November 2024 - Chedworth

A glorious sunny morning for our walk from Chedworth following the Monacrh's Way to Rendcombe. Returning through Chedworth Laines. After Storm Bert at the weekend it was exceptionally wet and muddy in plaes. 8 miles with 800 feet ascent.

Chedworth

Opposite the pub a small waterfall was coming through the wall after all the rain

Very wet pathches in places and.....

....muddy too

Looking down on Rendcomb from our coffee stop.

Beautiful Cotswold valley

At the top of the steeper bit on the way back.

Wednesday 20th November 2024 - Toddington

An easy walk with the Winchcombe Probus group from Toddington into a magical witner wonderland following the snowfall the previous day. Nearly flat and just over 4 miles. All followed with lunch in The Pheasant afterwards.

Didbrook

And in the distance they had put the fountain on at Stanway House for us.

Tuesday 12th November 2024 - Moreton-in-Marsh

Starting from the Croquet club at Moreton-in-Marsh. Out Sezincote then north to Bourton-on-the-Hill and towards Blockley. Returning through Batsford. Just over 8 miles. A cool gloomy morning only for the sun to come out after we finished.

On the footpath below Sezincote

A coffee break on the edge of Sezincote gardens.

Bourton-on-the-Hill comes into view.

A very foggy morning as we walked amongst the clouds. No views anywhere! 10.5 miles with 1200 ft of ascent.
