The Cross Cotswold Way runs from Banbury to Bath and for most of the route it follows part of the Macmillan Way. The Cotswold Wardens had set up a group to walk this route in 10 stages which my neighbour had signed up for. Unfortunately she wasn't able to do two of the sections so offered her place to me. I got on the coach at Bourton-on-the-Water and we were taken to the start near the Royal Agricultural University. Initially we were on the Monarch's Way. We turned onto the Wysis Way to find the spring which is the source of the River Thames. Then back to the disused Thames and Severn Canal which we followed to the Tunnel House. On to Tarlton, Hazelton Manor Farm, Cherington (with a stop for lunch) and finally on to Avening.
